LED Rosacea Treatment

LED therapy is one of the latest skin care tech crazes. LED stands for light emitting diode. There has been much speculation about LED therapy actually works. LED wavelengths, specifically 600 to 900 nm, can penetrate blood, water, and tissue more easily than other wavelengths. According to some studies, about 35% of this energy is absorbed by the proton pump in the mitochondria of your cells. The mitochondria’s most important function is to make ATP aerobically, with Oxygen as its final electron carrier.
The biochemistry behind this is rather intense, but basically the pump is more efficient when exposed to specific wavelengths of light. LED therapy can promote circulation and rejuvenation of the skin cells. It has also been speculated that it can help restore collagen and elastin in the skin.
Rosacea usually begins with an uncomfortable redness on the skin. Most rosacea sufferers just experience redness, while others experience small bumps and itching or stinging, and dilated blood vessels. In numerous studies, LED light therapy has been shown to reduce the effects of rosacea, providing relief for many. LED light therapy has been shown to increase superoxide dismutase (SOD), which aids in clearing out the rosacea producing factors in your body.
LED light therapy has a number of uses for other skin care issues, so stay tuned for more about LED and its benefits.  Check out our spa services page dedicated to LED therapy
