Get into the fall spirit with a Pumpkin Facial at ESI. But why pumpkin, other than its obvious seasonal connotation?
Pumpkin has a variety of skin benefits ranging from vitamins to exfoliating enzymes. Here is a list of why a pumpkin facial might be just what you need.
AHA’s- Pumpkin contains a variety of AHA’s or Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids. These acids penetrate through the stratum corneum and assist with the keratinization, or the removal and sloughing off of dead skin cells. This process reveals, healthier live cells underneath and brings a general radiance to your complexion
Vitamin A- Pumpkin contains a form of Vitamin A known at retinoic acid. This acid aids in skin renewal as it turn on genes that differentiate between immature and mature skin cells. This differentiation between cells allows for a faster turnover rate of cells, so you are always left with bright, new skin cells. Retinoic acid is also commonly prescribed to treat acne as it helps reduce size and secretion of sebaceous glands.
Vitamin C- Anyone who knows anything about skincare, knows this vitamin packs a powerful punch. It is a gentle antioxidant that not only heals and regenerates dull skin, but it can also heal sun damaged skin. After all that time spent in the sun this summer, your skin could use the pick me up offered by the pumpkin peel.
Vitamin E- Pumpkin also contains vitamin e, an antioxidant and stabilizer. Vitamin E helps soothe dry skin, and can decrease signs of aging.
Enzymes- Pumpkin’s high enzyme content helps to not only remove dead skin, but also dissolve dry skin. Pumpkin enzymes, as opposed to harsher acids, do much of the work in this peel, which is why it is great for anyone with sensitive skin. The enzymes do not burn the dead skin away, but the simply dissolve it. Enzymes act like little pac-men, eating your ghostly dead skin. This peel is a perfect first-timer peel, as it is gentler than a glycolic or Jessner peel, but it offer astounding immediate and long lasting effects.
