The Wonders of Chamomile

Chamomile is the name for a series of common daisy like plants from the Asteraceae family. It is widely known for its calming and soothing effects when ingested as a tea. However, many people are unaware of its benefits in the skin care realm. Chamomile itself has a variety of uses, and its extractives are quite common in many skincare products. Chamomile has anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties. In clinical trials, some varieties of German chamomile have even been able to inhibit staphylococcal and streptococcal strains of bacteria. Bisabolol, a gentle viscous alcohol, is actually a derivative of the German Chamomile plant. Chamomile has been used for many years to naturally treat wounds, minor burns, scrapes, cuts, insect bites, rashes, acne, eczema, irritated skin, psoriasis, sunburn, and pain and swelling of the skin.

At the Elaine Sterling Institute, we use chamomile or its derivatives as an active ingredient in some of our Elaine Sterling Skincare products.
For starters, in our Daily Nutrient Toner, we use chamomile as a calming, pore minimizing, and gentle anti-bacterial agent
See our Daily Nutrient toner on our school website.
